Ann Clements

Serving as Education Director, Ann Clements works with teachers across Arkansas to spread humanities education throughout the state and develops professional development opportunities and new programming. Her love of history and civics education served as a touchstone throughout her 30 years in state government. She served as the first State Capitol Historian, Director of the Louisiana Purchase Statewide Bicentennial, Director of the Secretary of State’s Communication and Education Department and developed public programming for the Arkansas State Archives. Appointed by Mayor Pat Hays to the North Little Rock History Commission in 2002, she now serves as its Vice-Chair. Clements and her husband are active members of Preserve Arkansas and have two adult sons and two grandchildren. In addition to spending time with her family, Clements enjoys live music, historical fiction, upcycling vintage jewelry into new wearable pieces, supporting her historic Argenta neighborhood, and traveling to new places.
